Born to Nigerian parents in West London, Kashmere (aka The Iguana Man aka Vadertron aka Galaktus aka...) is a veteran emcee and producer who delivers a uniquely focussed brand of Hip-Hop music. He has featured on more than 30 commercially available releases and has toured extensively throughout the United Kingdom and continental Europe, building a virus-like cult following in the process! His musical influences range from David Brubeck to MF Doom and are not confined to one genre or style, something which his own music clearly reflects. Raised in North-West London he began writing raps in 1990 and spent the next 7 years developing this talent until first recording with a local producer in 1997. And the rest, as they say, is His Story! Driven to perfect his chosen craft, Kashmere's quest has led him to collaborate with many of the UK's best Hip Hop producers, emcees, and collectives. Notably he has featured on releases from the quality labels Low Life and Breakin' Bread which brought him to the attention of an emergent international audience for British rap. 'Technical Illness' (a 6 track E.P. released as a double-pack along with Verb T's brilliant 'Backhand Slap Talk') was released by Low Life in 2004, bolstering the momentum Kashmere had already established with earlier 12" offerings such as the acclaimed 'Raw Styles' series on his own imprint Receptor Records. A round of incessant touring commenced taking in clubs and festivals all over the UK and Europe. Alongside Verb.T and with producer/DJ extraordinaire Ghost on the wheels of steel, Kashmere quickly established himself as one of the most charismatic and accomplished emcees yet to have emerged from the UK. In 2005 he began recording his masterful debut album 'In The Hour Of Chaos'. The result was an epic 17-track recording which explored the relationship between the spiritual and the physical, the light and the dark. Released on Receptor Records in October 2006 it was hailed by critics and music-lovers alike, establishing his credentials as a truly powerful creative force. The sheer volume of songs Kashmere recorded during sessions for the album soon led to the release of the incredible 'Raiders Of The Lost Archives' on YNR in 2008. Featuring production from LG, Jehst, Ghost, DJ IQ and Diversion Tactics beat-smiths Zygote & Jazz T, 'Raiders...' marked a return to the energy and humour of earlier releases, highlighting Kashmere's confidence and charisma. Currently Kashmere is gearing up for the release of 'Kingdom Of Fear' on YNR, a concept album saluting the life, work and vices of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson. Entirely produced and written on the spot with producer Jehst, the two took a typically Gonzo approach to the album, churning out beats and bars with a vulgar disregard for refinement. In addition to 'Kingdom Of Fear' Kashmere also has a concept album due for release on Boot Records. Entitled 'Galaktus', the album is a collaboration with producers Zygote and Jazz T, based on their mutual love of comic books and all things Sci-Fi! Kashmere is working at a phenomenal rate and remains committed to giving the listeners soulful and substantive Hip-Hop formed in his own inimitable style.
